Sara Cate Ruff, Associate

Sara Cate Ruff is an Associate at Hach Rose Schirripa & Cheverie LLP. Ms. Ruff primarily focuses on litigating sexual abuse claims. Sara Cate is a compassionate advocate who centers her practice on fostering trust with her clients and empowering them through the challenges of the legal system. She understands the long-term impacts affecting sexual abuse survivors and meets them in this space with empathy and excellent legal representation.

Sara Cate previously interned for the Brooklyn Defender Services Family Defense Practice, where she conducted client interviews, drafted client affidavits, and coordinated services to address various issues raised in Family Court. After graduating law school, Sara Cate worked as a Legal Clerk, and then as an Associate Attorney, for a law firm in New York City, handling both sexual assault and medical malpractice actions. Thereafter, Ms. Ruff litigated Adult Survivor Act claims, representing individuals who were sexually assaulted while incarcerated various New York State prisons, and while incarcerated in surrounding county jails.

Ms. Ruff is admitted to practice law in the state of New York. She received her B.A. in Journalism and Integrated Media from Biola University in 2015. In 2020, Sara Cate received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where she was a member of the International Law Journal, and Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Fellow, and a Dean’s Merit Scholar recipient.
